I started competitive rowing straight away in my first year at Theta. I had heard about it and it seemed really cool to take up the challenge of competitive rowing. I have since found out that I really enjoy rowing and that this was the right choice! The amount of training, which is sometimes hard, is all worth it when you can get the best out of yourself on the 2km course on the many race weekends, where you travel with your team and the rest of the race section.

Even the training sessions on Tuesdays at 6.30 in the morning are really nice when you realise that the group of people who are all there have the same goal, which is to row incredibly hard and to give everything for it. Besides the rowing itself, you also create the closest friendships, not only within your team but also within the rest of the race section. For example, I have found my very best friends within my squads of freshman rowing and now also in my middle group squad. You share all your experiences with the rest of the race section, which makes for a really close-knit group of people who all have the same attitude and want to work incredibly hard so they can get the most out of themselves.
